The "lost", third Bird By Snow album, out of print since 2009, resurfaces again in digital form! (In advance of a new limited vinyl run happening sometime in 2020.)

Recorded on 8-track cassette tape in former homes in San Francisco, and Oakland Californias. This is a capsule of songs written by Fletcher Tucker all over Europe and North America (between 2007-2009), back when Bird By Snow was an endlessly DIY touring solo act (and often two-piece with Spencer Owen). In many ways "Songbread" represents the home-recorded apex of the Bird By Snow project. Indeed, of all the five LPs that were to flow from these aural-springs this album is among the warmest, most intimate and diverse in style, tone, and texture – with a few sonic surprises tucked away in each track.

"Songbread" features all the Bird By Snow archetypes in merry measure: primitivist yearnings, eco-spiritual poetics, naturalistic melodies, polyrhythms, intricate multi-instrumentalism, and radically unabashed sincerity. We are glad to share this work again after so many years – and as the album title implies... we hope you find nourishment in these songs.
